Writer Ashish Kaul has accused Kangana Ranaut’s upcoming film ‘Manikarnika Returns: The Legend of Didda’ of stealing the story. However, filmmaker Kamal Jain has denied the allegations. ‘I don’t know Ashish Kaul. I haven’t even read his book, ‘he said.
Producer Jain has also insisted that copyrights do not apply to the stories of heroes and heroines before 1950. He also clarified that someone’s rights had to be taken away while making a film based on the story of ‘Jhasi Ki Rani’.
Kashmiri Pandit Ashish Kaul, on the other hand, has said that he has written a book on Kashmir’s Veerangana Didda. It has been informed that it was released by Amitabh Bachchan. Others have questioned how the film was made, saying it was not a book. He has questioned the extent of justice. But producer Jain said he would soon release the author of the story.
The controversy erupted after Kangana released the second film of the ‘Manikarnika’ franchise ‘Manikarnika Returns: The Legend of Didda’ on the occasion of Makar Sankranti.
